Smart City Tutors provides families with quality instruction from experienced tutors. Our Tutors specialize in a range of subjects, as well as offering general academic support, executive function guidance, & test preparation.

This month we’re highlighting Andrew G.. After graduating from Brown University, where he concentrated in Italian Studies and Music, Andrew went on to tutor students in a multitude of subjects including Test Prep (SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT), executive functioning, and general academics. Andrew has worked with hundreds of students, “opening doors” to help them improve grades and test scores as well as gain confidence in the classroom and beyond.

Outside of traditional academic subjects, Andrew teaches leads courses in songwriting and teaches Italian classes. When he’s not tutoring, he can be found singing at open mics, trying new recipes, and running obstacle races.

Madeleine J.

Academics, Test Prep
B.A. Vassar College

Madeleine has tutored for over a decade in a range of subjects and contexts for students ages 8 to 18. She led SAT and ACT test prep classes for several years, taught all subjects while homeschooling students in middle and high school, and now has been tutoring with Smart City Tutors since 2021. Madeleine supports students in writing, reading, social studies, math, and Spanish and particularly loves to nerd out over grammar with her pupils. She also helps students improve their standardized test scores by working with each kids’ unique learning style, centering their talents and goals, and cheerleading them throughout the whole journey. She is creative, inspiring, and warm.
